SING-ALONG WITH ENGLISH

We have started this new school year with one of our talks by native speakers. In this ocassion, our visitor was Declan Mathews, a teacher from Dundalk (Ireland). He explained the benefits of singing songs to help us learn English. All we have to do is sing and sing ang sing, because this way we learn new words and expressions, we improve our pronountiation and intonation, and we enjoy.

Have you ever wondered how a school day is for a British kid? I suppose there is not much difference between British and Spanish schools, but there are some curiosities you may want to know. Have a look at these videos.

These first days at school are good to remember some basic things such as the classroom rules, the material we need, the study habits, ... They are extremely important to pass with flying colours and to live with our teachers and companions. Have a look:

WELCOME BACK

We are back. Welcome everyone to a new and exciting school year! It´s going to be full of surprises: new games, new phrases of the month, new workshops, new talks and a speaking assistant!

We are all a bit nervous and anxious these first days, but don´t panic! Everything is going to be ok. And to relax ourselves a little bit, it´s a good idea to start with a concert in English. Remember that singing songs help you improve your English.

Today we had the visit of Brenda Handford, an English teacher, and BlueSmoke, a fantastic pop band. Brenda gave us some tips to study English with songs and we could put them into practise singing along. BlueSmoke played several famous songs by bands of all times. 

We all had a fantastic time singing along!!! Thank you soooooooo much....

BRITISH SCHOOLS

WELCOME BACK!!!

Hello and welcome back to a new school year!

We all feel a bit lazy after the marvellous summer holidays. But now it´s time to hit the books again and start full of energy and illusion. That´s why we had a special activity last Friday, the 11th of September: we had a fantastic pop concert at school! The activity was called "ENGLISH... SING IT!". The fabulous band "BLUE SMOKE" sang many famous English songs such as "What a wonderful world", "Imagine", "Stand by me", "Don´t worry, be happy", "We will rock you",  "All of me", "Radioactive" or  "Say something". BLUE SMOKE has got 4 members:

- María Rodríguez: vocals

- Carlos Mejuto: drums

- Alejandro Sanz: electric guitar

- Andrés Rey: acustic guitar, vocals

Besides, a native speaker (Brenda Handford) made us think about the importance of learning English and about the different ways to learn it. One of the funniest is through songs.

We are back again! Back to school!!! 

Maybe we can feel a bit lazy after being without any obligations during the summer. But... that´s life! We need to go back to normal and start this new school year full of energy.
