UNIT 2 - SIMPLY THE BEST: Comparatives and superlatives

 Today we will revise the comparative and we will learn the superlative form. Get ready for a mini test next Tuesday. Don´t panic!

 Remember that we use the comparative to compare 2 things, but the superlative is used when we have 3 or more things.  Ready?

1.- Write down the superlative form in your notebook, as well as the rules to add "est". You can also read it in Calameo (on the right).

TREASURE ISLAND

Today we are going to the theatre!  Well... not exactly. In fact, the theatre comes to our classroom, because we will see the play "Treasure island" by Face2Face Theatre Company as if we were on a real stage. But not only that: we also have to complete some tasks in order to get coins and find the treasure at the end! And this is thanks to the uninterested contribution of our Parents Association. Very many thanks for bringing us this fantasic opportunity!!!

Have you ever heard of this famous story? I bet you have. It was written by the Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson and first published in 1883. It is a story about pirates. What do you know about pirates?  What did they do? Where did they live? Here you are some resources to know a bit more about them.

SEASONS: CARNIVAL


Carnival is almost over. As you know, British people don´t celebrate a Carnival time like ours. They can wear costumes, masks and other accesories at Halloween, but not now. However, they do have a sort of Carnival in the summer: "the Notting Hill Carnival". And they also prepare delicious "pancakes", similar to our "filloas", but they eat them differently. Take a look:

UNIT 2 - SIMPLY THE BEST: Comparatives

Today we will start a new unit in e-Dixgal, titled "Simply the best", as you already know.

1.- First of all, let´s do the LISTENING TEST. It´s easy-peasy!!!
2.- Go to e-Dixgal, unit 2, lesson 1 ("Can you describe it?") and do the exercises 1-2-3 and "Quess what".
3.- Now we are ready to celebrate Valentine´s Day, because it will be next Sundat the 14th. First watch this video to learn the history behind this celebration:

4.- Next, go to Liveworksheets - SEASONS and complete the numbers 30-31-32.
5.- Now we can play a Kahoot  HERE.

UNIT 2 - SIMPLY THE BEST: Comparatives

Time to start a new unit, the unit 2, titled "Simply the best". Let´s begin revising some vocabulary and learning the comparative form. Ready?

1.- Do a cover for this new unit. Write  "UNIT 2 - SIMPLE THE BEST" and decorate it with some  stars or hearts.

2.- Stick the photocopies with the new vocabulary in your notebook with glue. You can also see it in Calameo unit 2 (on the right).

3.- Write down how to use the comparative form and the rules to add"er".

4.- Now watch this video to learn the new rules by heart.

UNIT 2 - SIMPLY THE BEST: Comparatives and superlatives

 Today we will learn how and when to use the superlative form. Another step forward!

1.- Go to lesson 2 ("Can you compare it?") and complete the activities 1-2-3-4-5-6 and read Guess what.

2.- Once you finish, please write down the new theory about the superlative form in your notebook. You can also see it in Calameo - Unit 2 (on the right).

SEASONS: WINTER


Today we will learn some words and expressions about the winter, linked by different connectors in a composition.

1.- Let´s read the composition about the winter you have got in your notebook or in Calameo. It is divided in 3 paragraphs:

     1.- INTRODUCTION: months, weather, clothes, ...

     2.- NATURE: how the nature is in winter and how this affects the animals.

     3.- ACTIVITIES: funny things to do in winter (choose 3).

2.- Get ready for a READING COMPREHENSION TEXT next Friday, the 5th of February. Don´t panic! It´s a mini-test.

3.- Now complete the Liveworksheet number 25.

4.- Finally, let´s read the first 2 pages of the book "Great inventions": Common and useful inventions -  The rubber tyre (pages 2-3-4-5).

SEASONS: WINTER


All of a sudden, winter is here. You can see it everywhere: it´s freezing cold, so we wear warm clothes such as coats, jumpers, woolly hats, scarves, gloves, boots, ...; the trees are bare and the animals hibernate or migrate to warmer places; we can eat oranges and tangerines, and we drink hot chocolate; we can see the snow... It´s winter!!!

1.- Do a cover for your notebook with the word WINTER and add some snowflakes or other wintery images. 

2.- Now stick with glue the photocopies with all the vocabulary and expressions to learn. You can also find them in CALAMEO: Seasons (on the right).

3.- Now  you can practise all the winter expressions and words by watching these videos and by playing these games. Let´s go!!!
