BILINGUAL SECTIONS: David Pintor

We have started the third term with the visit of David Pintor, an illustrator, painter, designer and author from A Coruña, who kindly explained us his creative process. As you know, we have been working on his book "A Coruña", published by Kalandraka, focusing in the images that better represent our town in each and everyone of the 4 seasons. In it, David Pintor expresses his fascination for his hometown with 30 drawings full of freshness and tenderness, introducing surprising and imaginative elements and recreating the identity and natural beauty of the town. That´s why we particularly enjoyed his visit: he told us the purpose of this series and the key symbols of each one of the books, such as the seagulls in the case of A Coruña.

After his talk, we had the chance of asking him some questions. Besides, he patiently signed us his books with a unique and valuable illustration, and he even left a huge drawing for the school, which he finished in less than 4 minutes! Take a look...

Thank you so much for your visit, David!

BILINGUAL SECTIONS: Winter time

Time to show our creations in Arts & Crafts!

On the second term, we approached to the winter season and we learned about the Impressionism thanks to Xulio Gallego, our favourite local artist by far, who taught us how to use the paintbrush and mix colours in our drawings. We really appreciate it, Xulio! Thanks a lot!

And to reflect the presence of the winter in our hometown, we reproduced an illustration of the book "A Coruña" by David Pintor, who kindly came to our school to explain his creation process and techniques. Thank you so much for coming!

Now check how talented we are in this presentation below. We are real artists!

FESTIVALS: SAINT PATRICK'S DAY

Today has been a special day at school: we have celebrated
St. Patrick´s Day with Declan Mathews, an Irish teacher, member of honour of our school community. So we all have been Irish for a day wearing green, a lucky colour. We have learned many facts about Ireland thanks to Declan:  we learned about its main traditions.  At the end, we had to answer 20 questions in a quiz and, as we did it so well, we got the leprechaun´s pot of gold!!! Hurray!!!

Thank you so much, Declan, for your patience, kindness and wisdom!

You can reinforce all we have learned today through these videos and games:

1.- First of all, watch this video to learn the vocabulary of this important celebration:

2.- Now let´s see some traditions related to this day:

3.- Let´s sing along a traditional Irish song: "Molly Malone":

5.- Not finished yet: time for some arts and crafts:
