AUTUMN

September-October-November and December are the months of the autumn. There are many changes in this season: days are shorter, the weather is chilly and windy, we wear jackets and boots, and the leaves turn brown and fall to the ground. Do you need more expressions about the autumn? Take a look...
You can also practise playing these games:

- WORD CARDS

AUTUMN TALK

Beatrice, an English girl, visited our classroom last Thursday to talk about the autumn or fall. It was a great day because we learned many things about this season and especially about a cute bear: Paddington Bear. Beatrice was born in London and she lived near Paddington Station, where this famous character appeared. Apart from this, we recited some famous poems and we explained how British people celebrate the most popular autumn festivals: Halloween, Bonfire Night and Poppy Day. Finally, we all ate a delicious marshmallow that Beatrice gave us as a memory of her visit. She told us that we can melt it on  a bonfire... Yummy!!!
Thanks a lot, Beatrice!!!

And now a trailer of a new film about Paddington Bear coming soon.

CONKERS

Now that the autumn is already here, do you fancy a conker fight? CONKERS is a traditional British game, very popular at schools during the autumn months. You need a conker hanging on a string and an opponent. Watch this video to see how to prepare your conker for the game and what the rules are. Ready for the competiton? Good luck!

SINGING IN THE RAIN

One of the most funniest things we can do in the autumn is putting on our wellies and raincoats and jump in the puddles, even better if it is raining. And why not singing in the rain? Who said that the autumn is boring?

SINGING IN THE RAIN

Another funny activity to do in a rainy autumn afternoon is to wear a good raincoat and wellies and jump in the puddles. You can even dance and sing in the rain without an umbrella. Like Gene Kelly in this famous scene. Enjoy it!

AUTUMN IS HERE

The autumn is here once more! It´s a good time to go to the woods and see the changes in the nature, to admire the beautiful colours of the leaves and to enjoy this fantastic season. There are plenty of funny activities you can do in the autumn. For me, the one of the funniest is to rake the leaves into a pile and jump into them. Have you ever tried?... What are you waiting for?...
Enjoy this video...

AUTUMN IS HERE AT LAST!

Yes! It´s true! Autumn is here at last! These last days we could feel it in the air: the temperature was chillier, it was very windy and the leaves were swirling all around. And today we have the first storm of the season with strong wind. So why don´t we go over the autumn vocabulary? That can help you write your autumn acrostic poem.

A utumn is here!

U mbrellas and raincoats.

T he weather is rainy.

U nder the trees

Autumn is NOT here!

What is happening with the weather? It´s 15th October and the temperature is really high. The sun shines even more than in the summer and it doesn´t rain at all! We are in the autumn but the autumn is not with us. Anyway it´s a good idea to go over the words related to this time of the year: umbrella - chilly - rain - leaves falling - boots and jackets - brown and yellow...
Besides this is a fantastic season to go to the forest and observe the changes in the nature. What can we do in the autumn? Lots and lots of funny activities. Have a look at this video and you will see... By the way, the music is "Autumn leaves" sung by Nat King Cole.

CONKERS

Have you ever heard about CONKERS? During the months of September and October, a favourite playground game is CONKERS. There are two players. Each player has got a conker or chestnut hanging on its string. Players take turns at hitting the oponent´s conker. The game goes on in turns until one of the two conkers is completely destroyed.
When you find your first conker of the autumn you must say this:

"Oddly oddly onker,
my first conker"

This ensures good fortune in the coming season. So... what are you waiting for? Go and find yours!

AUTUMN LEAVES

Now that we are talking about the autumn, we can´t forget this wonderful song by Nat King Cole: "AUTUMN LEAVES". It appeared in the film with the same title "Autumn leaves" that starred Joan Crawford in 1956. Originally it was a French song and it was played by lots of different artists all over the years.
It is a love song. Someone talks about a summer love and how much he or she misses it now that it´s autumn and the leaves are falling.
Ladies and gentlemen, "AUTUMN LEAVES":
