UNIT 1 - BACK TO SCHOOL: Present continuous

 Today we will continue working on the present continuous, also known as present progressive. Let´s go!

1.- First of all, write down the most common time expressions used along with this tense.

2.- Now stick the vocabulary to describe a picture. Practise how to do it with the Liveworksheet number 40.

3.- Now go to Liveworksheets and complete the exercises 40-41.

UNIT 1 - BACK TO SCHOOL: Present continuous

 

In today´s lesson we will revise the use and formation of the present continuous in the 3 forms: affirmative, negative and interrogative. Remember that we have to use the verb TO BE followed by the main verb ending in "ING".

A NEW YEAR, A FRESH START

Welcome new year!!! It is a time to think about the past but having in mind new challenges for the coming year. A time to start new good habits and quit the bad ones:"A new year, a fresh start" or "Out with the old, in with the new". What do you want to achieve this new year? What are your goals? Are there anything that needs to be improved? Let´s make our new year´s resolutions.

1.- In a Post-it, write down 1 resolution for this new year. Remember to use the expression "I´m going to..." .You can watch these two videos to get some ideas:

 

 2.- Another popular new year´s tradition in the UK, especially in Scotland is "The first footer": after 12 o´clock on New Year´s Eve, a tall dark haired man must be the first one entering your house with a lump of coal, a piece of bread, a silver coin, some salt and a drink. This will bring good fortune to your house. 

3.- Finally, a good resolution for this year is to follow the new normal safety measures. Do you remember them? Don´t forget the new words that are appearing lately: a new strain, the third wave, a vaccine, a possible lockdown, tier 1-2-3-4,  ... Let´s play Kahoot to check your knowledge about this issue. Ready?
