UNIT 1 - I DON'T LIKE THIS CITY: Project


Let´s continue with the final project of this unit 1. We have to describe "A Coruña, our hometown", following the example in your notebook. Remember to use as much vocabulary and expressions as you can. Ready?

1.- Firstly, finish writing the project "A Coruña, my hometown" in your notebook. 

2.- Next, please create a presentation about A Coruña using Impress. You have to include a minimum of  7 slides :

    - SLIDE 1: A CORUÑA - photo - name and class

     - SLIDE 2: LOCATION - photo - phrase

     - SLIDE 3: CLIMATE - photo - phrase

     - SLIDE 4: HISTORIC BUILDINGS - photos - phrase

3.- Once you finish, please save it in your computer.

5.- Finally, let's revise the contents of this unit 1, so please complete the Liveworksheets 26-27.

UNIT 1 - BACK TO SCHOOL: Speaking and writing test


Time for a WRITING and SPEAKING TEST. In this ocassion, you have to describe a picture. Choose the one you like best and remember to mention 3 parts:

    1. INTRODUCTION: briefly explain what you see in the pictures.

    2. BODY: add more details using some key expressions (in the background, in the foreground, in the                       centre, at the top, on the right...) and the present continuous.

    3. CONCLUSION: make a guess about how the people in the picture may feel.


If you prefer, you can write and say a compoisition about A special day. It is up to you!

Time to do the project of this unit 1: "A special day". In this ocassion, you have to describe a special day in your life comparing it with an ordinary one. You can find an example in Calameo, on your right. Let´s go! 

1.- First of all, stick the photocopy with the example of the composition. 

2.- Now, underline the key words and try to see the different parts.

UNIT 1 - BACK TO SCHOOL: Picture description

In today´s lesson we will revise the use and formation of the present continuous, also known as present progressive, in the 3 forms: affirmative, negative and interrogative. Remember that we have to use the verb TO BE followed by the main verb ending in "ING".

1.- First, stick the vocabulary to describe a picture. 


 2.- Now let's learn how to organise your description. Remember to follow these three steps:

     1.- INTRODUCTION: say what you see and where they are.

     2.- BODY: explain what the people in the picture are doing.

     3.- CONCLUSION: give your opinion (they are having fun, they look happy, ...).

FESTIVALS: New Year´s Resolutions


Happy new year!!! We are back with more energy than ever!!!!

Now that a new year begins, it is the right time to think about the past, but having in mind new challenges for the coming year. A time to start new good habits and quit the bad ones:

                          "A new year, a fresh start"  or   "Out with the old, in with the new". 

What do you want to achieve this new year? What are your goals? Is there anything that needs to be improved? Let´s write our new year´s resolutions. But what is that? Well, a new year´s resolution is a promise to yourself that you will do something better or you will stop doing something bad in the new year.

1.- Let´s start thinking about our resolutions for this year: CHIT-CHAT. You can watch this video to get some ideas:

                    

2.- Another popular new year´s tradition in the UK, especially in Scotland is "The first footer": after 12 o´clock on New Year´s Eve (Hogmanay), a tall dark haired man must be the first one entering your house with a lump of coal, a piece of bread, a silver coin, some salt and a drink. This will bring good fortune to your house. Who will be our first-footer at school?
