PDI: "A school of cinema"

This year our school has been “A school of cinema”  This is the title of our

school PDI for this year   and we have given it a “British touch”,   because we 

are  trying to improve our English.  We are sure that you love films! There

is always a film for any of us, depending on the genre you enjoy: adventure,

 sci-fi, love, terror, fantasy…  It is just a question of preferences.

 Let´s see some issues around this topic:

1.           First, we will make a brief introduction to the topic.

2.    Then we will highlight the best part of the cinematic experience.

3.    Next, we will remember the cinema etiquette.

4.         And finally, we will introduce some film genres.

BILINGUAL SECTIONS: Arts & crafts

Time to show our creations in Arts & Crafts as a bilingual section!

You already know that we are developing a project around the seasons, "4 in a year", to approach to different artistic languages, styles, techniques, formats and artists. 

The second term of this school year 2024-2025 was entirely dedicated to the winter. We learned about the Impressionism with Claude Monet and we also counted on the presence of Xulio Gallego, a teacher and local artist who taught us how to use the paintbrush and mix colours in our drawings. We really appreciate it, Xulio! Thanks a lot!

THE BOOK NOOK 11

Breaking news! The 11th episode of  The Book Nook has been launched! You know: the most fascinating radio programme, made for and by students in year 6.

A long term of recordings, research, interviews, meetings and really hard work finishes to release the second show of this school year 2024-2025, entirely dedicated to the school project: "Read and Watch: A year of films"

FESTIVALS: St. Patrick´s Day

Today has been a special day at school: we have celebrated 
St. Patrick´s Day with Declan Mathews, an Irish teacher, member of honour of our school community. So we all have been Irish for a day wearing green, a lucky colour. We have learned many facts about Ireland thanks to Declan:  we learned about its main traditions.  At the end, we had to answer 20 questions in a quiz and, as we did it so well, we got the leprechaun´s pot of gold!!! Hurray!!!

 Thank you so much, Declan, for your patience, kindness and wisdom!

UNIT 2 - AT THE SCHOOL CANTEEN: Healthy eating


A balanced diet is a key to stay healthy. Following healthy eating habits is the basis for a healthy life. So you need to be aware of the food you pick. This is a guide for you:

- Grains should be taken as the most. 

- Eat more fruit and vegetables. 

- Have a moderate amount of meat, fish, egg, milk and their alternatives. 

- Reduce fat/ oil, salt and sugar. 

- Cook with low-fat methods such as steaming, stewing, simmering, boiling, scalding or cooking with non-stick frying pans. 

- Also reduce the use of frying and deep-frying. 

These can help us achieve a balanced diet and promote health.

Today we are going to revise how to speak in the past tense, but only with regular verbs. Remember that we have to add "ED" and use the auxiliary verb DID - DIDN'T to form interrogative and negative sentences.

How do you pronounce the "ED" of the past tense? It depends on the final consonant sound: if this is a voiced or a voiceless sound. There are 3 ways to pronounce it in English. Let's see:

UNIT 2 - SIMPLY THE BEST: Past simple of regular verbs


Now that we are learning to speak about other times, let's see how to form the past simple of regular verbs. It is really easy because they all follow the same rule: add "ED". Let´s go!

1.- Write down the past simple of regular verbs in your notebooks (you can also see it in Calameo, on the right).

3.- Now go to e-Dixgal, unit 2, lesson 4 ("What did you do?"): complete the exercises 1-2-3- and read Accept the challenge.

UNIT 2 - THE NEW SUPERHERO: Ver CAN



Let´s go over the modal verb CAN in the 3 forms: affirmative, negative and interrogative. As you know, we use it to express abilities and it always goes with another verb, the main verb, which gives the meaning to the sentence. Hands on!!!

 A VERY HAPPY HOLIDAY!!!

1.- As you know, Britons don´t dress up at this time of the year. However, they do eat pancakes and they even have a day dedicated to them. Do you know how to prepare delicious pancakes? What ingredients do you need? What is your favourite topping? Here is a video about Pancake Day or Shrove Tuesday.
