Christmas has been very exciting this year at school . 

We have had a little bit of many things:

     - kisses under the mistletoe

     - an elf on the shelf

     - gifts from Secret Santa

     - advent calendars

     - a Christmas countdown

     - caroling

                                                           - a fantastic school concert

Without any doubt, we can say that the spirit of Christmas has been around us all these days.

THE BOOK NOOK 10

"The Book Nook" is here again!  We are in the 4th season and this is the 10th episode of this fascinating radio programme, made for and by students in year 6.

After an entire term of recordings, research, interviews, meetings and hard work, we have released the first show of this school year 2024-2025. And the results are amazing! Thank you so much to all the collaborators for your effort. 

This season will be entirely dedicated to the project we are developing in our school and book clubs. Under the title "Read and Watch: A year of films", we will see the strong connections between books and films.

In the presentation below you can listen to the entire programme or go directly to a specific section:

- Intro: presentation of the programme and summary

- SECTION 1 - "Speak out": a  section to give your opinion about a simple question: Books or films?

- SECTION 2 - "Our book Clubs": with members of Bookworms and BookLand.

- SECTION 3 - "Know the genre": in this ocassion we will see the main characteristics of SUSPENSE with Alfred Hitchcock.

- SECTION 4 - "Read and Watch": a section related to the PDI, this time we will see the cinema etiquette and we will name the best of the cinematic experience.

- SECTION 5 - "Our natives count": with a message by the Ambassador of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, responsible of the Walk of Fame.

FESTIVALS: Christmas Jumper Day

Today is the day!!! 18th of December, CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY!!!  an annual charity event hold by the NGO "Save the children".  Today we are all wearing a funny jumpers to school instead of normal clothes in order to

"MAKE THE WORLD BETTER WITH A SWEATER".

It´s a wonderful day, full of laughter, fun, unique sweaters and games.

READERS CLUB: "Charlie and the New York mystery"

Time for some reading! Let's start our Readers Club this year with a mysterious story:  "Charlie and the New York mystery". What is it about? Well, this is the plot:

Charlie and his friend James fly to New York to visit Charlie's penpal, Lily. But when they arrive, Lily is not at home, and a scary zombie chases them down the street.! Will they escape and find Lily?

With this story, we can:

     - learn about how Americans celebrate Halloween

     - read about Abraham Lincoln and the American Civil War

Today we will start a new unit titled "I don´t like this city". We will learn the names of different places and buildings of a city and we will also learn how to give directions to get to a specific place. Ready?

In today´s lesson we will revise the use and formation of the present continuous, also known as present progressive, in the 3 forms: affirmative, negative and interrogative. Remember that we have to use the verb TO BE followed by the main verb ending in "ING".

THEATRE DAY: "Circus life"

Yes! Today is the day! We are going to the theatre in our school!!! 

Are you ready for a play full of fun? Well, let´s enjoy  CIRCUS LIFE! Do you like going to the circus? What is your favourite performer: the clowns, the trapeze artists, the jugglers, the lion tamer, the magician?

Pay close attention because some of the actors can be familiar...

Face2Face is the theatre company which will perform this funny play. They have been coming to our school for more than 10 years and they always surprise us! You have more information about them HERE.
