HAPPY SCHOOL DAY OF NON-VIOLENCE AND PEACE

The School Day of Non-violence and Peace was founded by the Spanish educator and poet Lorenzo Vidal Vidal in 1964. It is observed on January 30th every year, on the anniversary of the death of Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948) was a political and spiritual leader who became the international symbol of a free India through a non-violent revolution and passive resistance. He said:
"If we are to teach real peace in this world… we shall have to begin with the children".
Now, please, watch this video: from the award-winning documentary, "Playing For Change", comes an incredible reedition of the legendary Bob Marley song "One Love". Street musicians from all over the world singing and playing this song together to promote peace through music. Simply marvellous!

WE LOVE SNOW!

We have snow at last! Well, it isn´t snowing here in Coruña, but quite near. We can go and see it in Betanzos or Arteixo, for example. And that´s marvellous! I love snow! What about you? We can do lots of things in the snow. Here you can see some of them, but I´m sure you can think about some more, can´t you? Send your ideas and I will add them to this slideshow.

VERY MANY THANKS, WISE MEN!

Dear Wise Men:
Instead of writing my letter before, I prefer to write it today, January the 6th. I just want to say THANK YOU for all the presents you have brought me but, mainly, for all the illusion, magic and hopeless that you deliver among all the children. You can´t imagine how happy they are! Today is their day: they wake up very early, open their presents and eat the delicious "roscón". And this year we are especially lucky because we can enjoy and play with all our toys during more days than other years: until January the 11th! In other countries, children are at school at the moment.
Once more, and in behalf of my pupils, VERY MANY THANKS, WISE MEN!

THE THREE KINGS DAY

Next Wednesday, January the 6th, we will receive lots of presents from The Three Kings, also known as The Three Wise Men or The Magi. Are you very nervous? I am. I need to do something that help me think of other things. I know! Do you want to see how Dora the Explorer celebrates the Three Kings Day? Enjoy the episode!

THE TOWER OF HERCULES IN BLUE

Last January 1st 2010, Spain took over the rotating Presidency of the European Union. So our country will lead the European Council for the next six months. That´s why many of the most emblematic Spanish monuments were blue for one day, on New Year´s Day, just after the clock struck 12. Among them, our dear Tower of Hercules was really pretty in blue, wasn´t it? Have a look at this pictures...
